Francisco Cerundolo: "This is a very difficult time"
Francisco Cerundolo is going through a major crisis of confidence. The 22nd ranked player in the world has not been able to regain his rhythm since the start of the season. In five tournaments played, the Argentine has only won one single match, in the 1st round of the Australian Open against Dane Sweeny, ranked 194th in the world.
A negative spiral which is undeniably difficult to manage for any tennis player. And his latest underperformance in the 1st round on the clay court in Buenos Aires, in front of his public, on Wednesday certainly didn't help matters. Cerundolo expressed his despair on X in the wake of his defeat against his compatriot Facundo Diaz Acosta.
Cerundolo: "This is a very difficult, very sad time. I want to thank everyone who supports me and pushes me to move forward. Because in good times, everyone is there, but when you start to lose a little, that seems to be less the case. Let's continue to work."
