Absent from the ATP circuit since 2021, Ivo Karlovic has confirmed what seemed to have become inevitable. At the age of 44, the Croatian officially announced his retirement from professional tennis on Wednesday 21 February 2024.
In a 24-year career (1997-2021), the giant from Zagreb (at 2.11 metres tall) won 8 ATP titles, played in 19 finals, served 13,728 aces, hit the second fastest service in history (251 km/h) behind John Isner (253 km/h), reached 14th in the world rankings (2008), played in the Wimbledon quarter-finals (2009), and beat Federer once and Djokovic twice.
All the best for the future, Dr. Ivo!
